Some sewing, thanks to the FAL sponsors, a reminder and the baby birds

Octagonal Orb block

I sewed one more Octagonal Orb Block (design by Elizabeth Hartmann, tutorial is here) tonight. It was so nice to be sewing again.

Now I can lay out the quilt I am making to take to London for Siblings Together. The talented and lovely members of Always Bee Learning each sent me a block too - so this is a special bee quilt. I am hoping to have time to make the top and get it quilted over the weekend.

I also have to make some trivets / mug rugs for the sample swap at the Fat Quarterly Retreat. My calendar says that I will be in London in about two weeks. Luckily, I have had so much practice packing and flying last month that getting ready is not a deal at all.

Today is a day off from the  2013 FAL tutorial series and instead, I am going to remind you to link up your Q2 finishes as there are great prizes to be won. Thank you to the Q2 sponsors, who are:

Quilter in The Gap
Surprise Package from Rhonda at Quilter in the Gap

£25 Gift Certificate from Tikki London

$25 Gift Certificate from Christa Quilts

So if you have a last minute finish, it is worth getting it done, and don't forget to link all of your finishes up here. You get one entry in the random draws for each finish.

4 baby robins - 1 and 2 days old

And there are the four baby robins. All four eggs hatched so they are 1 and 2 days old now. I am less surprised by how weird they look but I do prefer them with feathers. The mommy robin is feeding them all the time now.

Happy Fourth of July to all my American Friends!

Best,

Leanne

Your baby robins are just gorgeous! The curve of their super yellow beak just gets me every time. So beautiful.
How great is Rhonda with her surprise prize? I love that!
And your orb is just amazing. I forget some times how much I love purple.

Oh my goodness, that octagonal orb will be an incredible donation quilt! I can't wait to see it. I basted my ST quilt yesterday and will get busy quilting on Sunday after I get home from Whistler. Counting down the days till London! We need to figure out a rendezvous plan for Wednesday afternoon...
