Yikes, it's Wednesday again, any WIP here?

A bunch of modified tippecanoes - a mosaic from one block (I can't make them this fast)

No, I did not make this whole quilt top this week!

This is a photo mosaic made of the one block I did manage. I think I may have to make the quilt, it is pretty nice. Although I think I will make the stars in a bunch of different bright colours.

Tippecanoe, Sheila's variation

Here is the one block I did finish. It is a modified Tippecanoe.

I made Tippecanoes for the Mystery QAL (Click here for my blocks). I asked Sheila, mystery mastermind, for ideas of how to avoid the blobs of seams at the points should I want to make a bunch of blocks and join them together. The very next day, she sent me this design with a handy paper pieced pattern attached.

I think I need a whole quilt, I am trying to decide on the block size before I make too many more, this is a 6" block and that is a lot of blocks for a whole quilt. I make make it larger, say 10".

For the Love of Solids, more progress

I made this yesterday, it is the next piece, I think, in my wall quilt or maybe table topper for the Love of Solids [a modern swap]. It took me longer than I expected to put these together in a manner that I liked.

For the Love of Solids Swap

I know I showed you this picture already but I could not resist doing it again. [Here is the link to the tutorial by the Parfait Cafe again, you can read more about this piece in my previous blog post too.] I am going to combine it with the linear piece and maybe add something more to finish off. Then I am going to quilt it heavily, I are going for a sunbaked looked, the quilting will "distress" it a bit I am hoping.

In terms of other progress, I am still on island time, enjoying the days and moving slowly. And I am almost finished making plum jam, soon onto blackberry.

I am linking to WIP Wednesday, I missed last week. The best progress is always posted there, go and have a look.

Leanne all of these are gorgeous! And you are involved in so many cool swaps...how awesome. Thank you so much for sharing, I'd love to see more of the top in different colors as you suggested.

Love your solids! I really must have a go at something in just solids, but that would mean a shopping trip first!

Leanne, I don't think you are moving slowly at all.
I like your block very much but can I suggest something - if you match the canoe centres to the outer extra little triangles, or at least give them a stronger contrast to the canoe fabric, then you see more circular movement appear.
9" or 10" would I agree, be a better and quicker size for a quilt.

Haha, love the idea of making a photo montage to see what a lot would look like.

The hexagon modern thing is groovy!

I love the Tippecanoe block! Awesome...I've never heard of this block before but I really like it!

Agreed. You should definitely make a quilt of the Tippecanoe. Your mosaic thing is fun. You could totally throw a few of those up and make us think you are a quilting machine! Look at how fast she cranks out a quilt!

The modified Tippecanoe block looks great and wow it would be so nice made up into a quilt. I agree, a larger block would be better, 6 inches is too small and too many blocks for a good size quilt.
I really like what you are doing with the solids, it's going to look fabulous.

That modified block looks great - really good idea. I thought it was a whole quilt at first, I was very impressed. It will be lovely when it is done.

I"m a little slow with my WIP comments this week, but I did want to give you a shout-out for that Tippicanoe block, even if it is digitally expressed. It's going to be a fabulous quilt, and I'll look forward to watching you work on this. Fun also, those solids. Experimenting in color and shape can be very rewarding and satisfying.

Oooooh, love those star blocks! I was bummed when I read that it wasn't a finished top. : ) But I'm sure the actual finished top will be even more gorgeous in lots of different colors. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
