Finish - A - Long - Q2

Mystery Quilt - basted

I'm in for Quarter 2 of Rhonda at Quilter in the Gap's Finish - A - Long. In Q1 I got 3 quilts done, amoungst a bunch of swaps, bee blocks, tutorials, and such. The FAL truly works for me.

My list still includes the Mystery Quilt from the Mystery QAL Sheila at the Bluepatch Quilter patiently ran last spring. I am way behind on the finishing but at least now it is basted. I welcome ideas on the quilting, I am still not sure what to do. I need to quilt and bind this wonderful quilt.

Red

I am adding in Red. That might be cheating a bit, as I just started her last week. But since Red is not finished, maybe I can squeeze her in, she needs to be bound - I finished the quilting on the weekend.

Top done

This quilt top is made from the Summer's Blush pattern. I prepared a darker grey back last night and so it needs to be basted, quilted and bound. I want this as a picnic quilt so need to get on with it before picnic season.

And then there were 9

These beautiful butterfly blocks need to be made into a quilt. I am waffling between sashing and no sashing (if none, I will need to make more blocks so you can guess which way I am leaning). This screams spring to me so it needs to be done soon or spring will be gone. It needs to be finished into a top, basted, quilted and bound.

A Kiss in Time, so far

A Kiss in Time is still on the pile, another hold over from Q1. I did not even pull this one out all quarter, so I will try harder this spring. It needs to be finished, basted, quilted and bound.

And then there were 4 - LBSP Blocks

The last holdover from Q1 - these LBSP blocks need some friends. I did make some more HST units last quarter, but then I got distracted. Let's see if I can get this one finished too.

Cutting the Stained Quilt - on my new table

Finally, I want to finish my Stained Quilt from Sarah at Narcoleptic in a Cupboard's QAL. I am embarrassed to admit that I have only cut about a third of the fabrics so far, so I am so far behind it is sad. however, I set up a new cutting table in my sewing area yesterday and am so excited that I can now cut without having to either set up in the kitchen or suffer a screaming back. So I am going to finish cutting, making the blocks, basting, quilting and binding this one. I am using Echo, with is so wonderful, that I am sure I can do it this quarter.

Well, today I am the optimistic one. I do have some other quilting homework too - swaps, bee blocks, FQ Retreat samples and name tag, and then there is my old friend Startitis, who gets really bad in the spring. One can dream, let's see how I do.

If you have not yet joined the FAL, you have a few more days to link up your plan.

2012 Finish-A-Long

I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Easter weekend. I am going to enjoy this beautiful and sunny  Monday mostly off from work, and I am back at it tomorrow.

Best,

Leanne

oh my that is quite the list!! I love how RED is coming along! Anxious to see your binding choice. And imho, your butterfly blocks would be awesome with some contrasting sashing like I did with 'Sparkle' OR set off center with lots of white space like RED. hmmm....lovely no matter what you choose. Yay for a new cutting table - that'll be good motivation!

You are such a prolific and talented quilter - so inspirational. Red is my favourite - I nearly bought the fat eighth bundle of sea blues and greens last night but didn`t. I may just.

I am so excited to see the Mystery in there, it really is so beautiful.I think your butterfly blocks would pass for summer too if they don't make spring.Hope you manage a little sleep next quarter.

Your quilts are gorgeous - I can't wait to see them finished! I love that first one!!! So pretty.

I thought that the second quarter started April 1st, so any quilts not done by then can count, right? I included one which I actually finished on Saturday because it was still being quilted as of the 1st. I hope I'm right on that! LOL!

Good luck with all your finishes :)

I hope you are worried now that Rhonda is counting on you to push the numbers up on finishes. At least that takes the pressure off me. ;-)

Oh you make me want to put my mystery in the bin!

I love Red - I cheated and added my Stained to my list, so you can certainly have that one too!

Cool plan - the butterflies are great - what about putting them on point!?

What a list!

I would say to sash the butterflies - each one will stand out more distinctly then.

I love everything you do but the Mystery Quilt is SO pretty. It would look lovely handquilted! And of course you know how much I love "RED"! And the Summer Blush quilt reminds me of a tiled floor! Beautiful!
Good luck getting everything done!

Thank-you. I am inspired again!!
and I think you will get alot of use from your newest 'tool' - the cutting table!! I am looking to create my own 'big' ironing board and I do need to have a cutting area too.
Right now, for fun, hubby and I are looking at house plans. I have found one where, I know where my new 'studio' will be!! Little kitchen an bathroom included!! It is already in the plans - I didn't have to add it!! And when I do have that type of space, it will be fun.
Saying that, I think I had better use the space I have to make having bigger worth it!! Have a great week!! Thanks for the insperaion!! I had to copy that blk how-to's!! Looks like fun!!!

This is so fun to see three lines of fabric that I have used in such different quilts. I almost didn't recognize the Reunion. Such great projects!

Oh, my, I love the Klimt quilt! He is one of my favorite artists because of the patchwork he incorporates into his painting style.

Very ambitious list, but you have all of us cheering you on! Good luck!
