Summersville for Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day

Summersville by Lucie Summers

Edited to add: The giveaway is now over and the lovely Susan at PatchworknPlay is the winner! Congratulations Susan and thank you to everyone who participated and left such great ideas for summer picnic food and drinks.

Welcome to Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day. I am in love with Summersville, a new fabric line by Lu Summers. So I am giving some away, because I know you will love it too. That picture is one I took of my charm pack - so you could see the 27 different prints in this amazing line. By the way, I get to meet her - Lu Summers - in less than two weeks at the Fat Quarterly Retreat - she is one of my teachers!

I decided you might need all the prints so I am giving away a Fat Eight stack of the entire Summersville line. Once the winner is drawn, it will ship to you directly from my friends at Pink Castle Fabrics who have the bundle I purchased for you waiting for me to give them the address, anywhere in the world.

There are two chances to win this fabric: please leave me a comment sharing your favourite summer snacks or drinks. I am hoping to have a lot of picnics, especially at the beach, this summer and am looking for ideas to bring along. And if you are a follower of my blog (old or new) you can have a second entry.

Please make sure your email is attached to your blogger profile or you leave it in your comment - if you cannot be found, you cannot win. I will close this giveaway on May 25 at 5 p.m. PST and will draw the winner randomly. In the meantime, there will be a lot of amazing giveaways, do go and enter them all.

Normally I answer all comments left for me on my blog by email, but the give aways are tough and I have a crazy busy week. I will be reading and listing all your picnic ideas but forgive me if I don't get time to email you back, I will try but no promises.

Noise - almost done

In other news, I was quilting Noise yesterday, you can read more about her here. She is looking wonderful, there will be a Ta Da post tomorrow.

Noise - almost done

I was making purposefully random organic wavy lines. Much harder than mostly straight lines -who knew.

Red

Oh, and I had to show you Red again - the full Bloggers Quilt Festival post is here. I am so enjoying all the quilts in the Festival, I hope you are too.

Best,

Leanne

My favorite summer snack is fresh seasonal fruit! My sister-in-law actually just told me an awesome idea-cut the core only out of an apple (except leave the bottom) and then fill the hole with peanut butter and/or marshamllows! I can't wait to try it, lol.

My favorite summer food is pesto pasta. So simple: just bow tie pasta tossed with plenty of pesto (I cheat and use the jarred version from Costco) and Parmesan. If you're feeling adventurous, add some halved cherry tomatoes1 It goes really well with grilled chicken. :)

We love all the fresh summer fruits around here, especially all the stone fruits (peaches, plums, apricots, etc) - definately a favorite summer snack. We camp a lot in the summer as well and the kiddos LOVE campfire bananas (slit a banana, peel on, in half lengthwise, fill with chocolate chips, mini marshmellows, nuts, etc and wrap in tin foil. Cook over/around campfire until just soft, open and enjoy!).

I like to grill veggies (onions, zucchini, squash) after marinating in newman's own salad dressing. Chill. Then take on a picnic with sun dried tomatoes in oil, herbed goat cheese and crostini. Take the crostini, slather on the herbed goat cheese, top with a sun dried tomato and the chopped roasted veggies.

It also makes a fun side or nosh at a party (you can fancy it up and assemble ahead of time).

Serve with a nice chilled white wine or herbal iced tea.

Lately, I've been smearing apples with peanut butter and dipping in raisins (and I don't usually like raisins). Yum - I can't get enough! I also make my own salsa/pico de gallo this time of year, that the family goes crazy for. I keep wanting to ask my kids - "You do realize those are VEGETABLES in there, don't you?" And then those bags of freeze dried(?) snap peas - those are a fun carry along treat. My potluck dish for summer gatherings is a Southwestern Bean Salad with black beans, black eyed peas, corn, cilantro, dill, garlic, red onion, jalapeno, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Man, I'm getting hungry just writing all this!
