Edited to add: The giveaway is now over and the lovely Susan at PatchworknPlay is the winner! Congratulations Susan and thank you to everyone who participated and left such great ideas for summer picnic food and drinks.
Welcome to Sew, Mama, Sew Giveaway Day. I am in love with Summersville, a new fabric line by Lu Summers. So I am giving some away, because I know you will love it too. That picture is one I took of my charm pack - so you could see the 27 different prints in this amazing line. By the way, I get to meet her - Lu Summers - in less than two weeks at the Fat Quarterly Retreat - she is one of my teachers!
I decided you might need all the prints so I am giving away a Fat Eight stack of the entire Summersville line. Once the winner is drawn, it will ship to you directly from my friends at Pink Castle Fabrics who have the bundle I purchased for you waiting for me to give them the address, anywhere in the world.
There are two chances to win this fabric: please leave me a comment sharing your favourite summer snacks or drinks. I am hoping to have a lot of picnics, especially at the beach, this summer and am looking for ideas to bring along. And if you are a follower of my blog (old or new) you can have a second entry.
Please make sure your email is attached to your blogger profile or you leave it in your comment - if you cannot be found, you cannot win. I will close this giveaway on May 25 at 5 p.m. PST and will draw the winner randomly. In the meantime, there will be a lot of amazing giveaways, do go and enter them all.
Normally I answer all comments left for me on my blog by email, but the give aways are tough and I have a crazy busy week. I will be reading and listing all your picnic ideas but forgive me if I don't get time to email you back, I will try but no promises.
In other news, I was quilting Noise yesterday, you can read more about her here. She is looking wonderful, there will be a Ta Da post tomorrow.
I was making purposefully random organic wavy lines. Much harder than mostly straight lines -who knew.
Oh, and I had to show you Red again - the full Bloggers Quilt Festival post is here. I am so enjoying all the quilts in the Festival, I hope you are too.
Best,
Leanne
I love this line of fabric! We love tomatoes slices with fresh mozzarella cheese, balsamic vinegar, and fresh basil. It is especially good with tomatoes from you vegetable garden or from the farmers market.

It's light, tasty and still filling. I tried it out last month and everyone that tasted it demanded the recipe, cuz it's just that good! LOL Feel free to email me and i'll send you the recipe! :)

ReplyDeleteand raspberry lemonade :)
I'm a follower too and love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love salad caprese in the summer when the tomatoes are the best. I could eat it for every meal.
ReplyDeletei know it sounds crazy, but the best summer picnic salad ever is watermelon cubes, crumbled feta (the good kind that comes packed in water, not the dry precrumbled stuff), chopped mint, and lime juice. add a little salt if your feta isn't salty enough and some black pepper. it's AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE watermelon in the summer! Yum!

ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here racking my brain, trying to think of a summer dish that we love that would be good for picnics and I can't think of any! Our summer dishes usually include something grilled, my husband is pretty darn good with some charcoal and wood chips. BLTs are another summer favorite of ours. My mouth is watering thinking of one with a nice, fresh from the vine, juicy, ripe tomato. Too bad I don't grow any tomatoes! Heck, I don't grow anything but kids, if it's green it doesn't live long around my house. Thanks for the great giveaway Leanne, I love Summersville and would love to have this pretty stack sitting on my shelf to inspire me.

ReplyDeleteI like a fruit salad of green grapes, apple, canned pears, and candied walnuts. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love this easy dessert - sliced straberries, slivered almonds, and two bite brownie "croutons" (cut each brownie into about 9 pieces).
ReplyDeleteToss together and serve :)
Enjoy your summer!
Sarah

ReplyDeleteI love sandwiches with fresh fish for a snack on the beach. I know, I know... not everyone loves fish, but it's definitely good for a snack (so healthy!).
ReplyDeleteI'm your follower:)
ReplyDeleteI grew up ten minutes walk from the beach and spent many a happy day down there in the summer (when it wasn't chucking down and the sea fret hadn't rolled in!) and ate hundreds of egg and sand sandwiches but I don't think that's the sort of thing you're looking for so I'll suggest wraps - cream cheese, ham, lettuce, cucumber, etc. all rolled together in a tortilla and cut into slices! (And if it's really breezy you can eat them before the sand gets in!!)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and I love the quilting on 'Noise'!!

ReplyDeleteBoring I know but I love fruit salad!!

ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower, so will include a second snack idea. I make 2 boxes (we have 6 kids!) of Rice-a-Roni Chicken flavor and when I add the water, I add a large can of canned chicken breast, then cook as usual. Then I put it in the fridge for out outing the next day. The kids like this cold just as well as they like it warm, and it makes a filling lunch or snack that they can eat right out of a zip-lock baggie with a plastic spoon :)
ReplyDeleteOur favorite take-along is frozen red seedless grapes. They last longer when frozen, and are more refreshing.
