August 2012

August 2012

Those are my main projects for August. The ferris wheels are actually a hold over from July but oh well. I am still finishing another bag and making a tutorial for Cindy at Fluffy Sheep Quilting's  newsletter.

Urban Garden inspired quilt back

That is my first take on the back for the Windmills and Trees quilt. I am going to rip off all the sashing and make more improv blocks - soon I hope - as this version just does not work for me.

Jam

August was also filled with jam making, that is a pot of blackberry jam in progress. I made 52 jars of different sizes - blackberry, plum and fig.

Entrance Island

And we said good by to the Salish Sea - or you might know her as the Pacific Ocean - and headed home to the City, where work has engulfed me. But I will find a balance soon.

In the meantime, some friends are quilting along with me to make a Mod Pop. Come and join us if you like, we are moving slowly and I hope will have some fun along the way.

I am linking to Lynne at Lily's Quilts Fresh Sewing Day. Do go and see what everyone else has been up to.

Lily's Quilts

I hope you are enjoying Labour Day Weekend.

Best,

Leanne

Your use of color is always so beautiful.
52 jars of jam...I am coveting the blackberry and plum! Wow. I wish we had an endless supply of berries here. Maybe next year I'll just buy a lug of berries from the farmers market and make jam.

I am not sure how you find the time to do all you do. And still make some of the most beautiful things of anyone I know.

I am sorry for not reading you blog more often, but as you know I can find hardly time to read all these wonderful blogs.
But the picture of the island made me so curious, that I had to make this little break ;-). Is this the island you spend your summer holidays? It is so small and calm, looks sooo relaxing!
Hope you get into the normal life soon :)

You have such amazing taste in color and a great sense of shape/geometry. It's always great to pop over here and see your monthly mosaics!

Busy Busy! Love the bag, I just can't have enough bags or bag patterns. I am contemplating the QAL - I want to get a few things checked off my list first, without adding new. But the Mod Pop is great, and I would love to see what colors everyone comes up with. Slow would be good for me!
What a beautiful photo of the sea - wonderful way to spend your summer.

I didn't get to comment on all of these projects individually, so I figured I could comment here! Love, love, love the EPP, so pretty. Your shopping bag is pretty fabulous too! I am really envious of those blackberries, we had a terrible harvest this year!
